You know how comforting it is to talk to an old friend when you are facing the unknown...this book will give you that feeling in addition to good information about your trip to Russia. No sales hype, no gimmicks, just imagine having a cup of tea with a friend and learning their advice for the trip. The unique perspective of Russians who have lived in the States makes it even more accessible. Of course it is more organized than a conversation would be, and the logic of the chapters makes it easy to go back and find that bit of information you want to remember. An excellent resource that will help you plan your trip, yet small enough to tuck in your carry-on to review during your travels.

Don't just buy this book for yourself--buy it for ALL your friends. If they haven't thought of traveling to Russia, this book will spur them to make reservations. The authors are natives who have lived in the US for many years. They understand the questions and worries of American visitors. Everything you need is at your fingertips or a website check away. Historical tidbits, customs, mini-adventures and practical advice are offered in a fun, easy to find, format--including info you didn't even think to ask about. I've traveled to Russia several times and I can't wait to follow up on some of these suggestions for my next trip. Tuck it in your backpack or purse--it's that light, and it will become your best travel partner in Russia. You can plan your adventures over a latte at Moka-Locca in Moscow or savor delicious pilmeni at Palkin in St. Petersburg. But, whatever you do, don't go without this book!
Good book, mildly helpful

This is kind of a niche book about traveling in Russia. The only thing missing from this book is advice on how to travel independently around Russia (maybe that it impossible still). Either way, I would like to know that.
